How To Let Go Of Musician!!!!!!
« on: December 21, 2006, 06:35:41 PM »
Ok please tell me if I'm trippin......

Ok so my boy calls me and tells that the church he was playing for EMAILED him and told him and I quote," We will no longer be utilizing your services". My boy is faithful and the last two services he was sick and Called in and had a replacement. So is it just me or shouldn't you have a meeting with the person or give them a warning letter or something.

MOMS tell what should be done in this situation.

Take it as God opening the door for newer opportunities.
If you dwell on it. You'll be too busy looking back that you won't see the door WWWWIIIIDDDDEEEE open in front of you.

I agree on this, but on the way the church handled it, I think that was wrong. They should of had a meeting with the pastor and him, talk to him and tell him what's going on. Not send an E-mail.  ?/?

So I think the church handled it wrong.

Stuff like that is better received in person, it just shows more consideration.  An email is kind of cold.

I think an e-mail is cool. At my job, the worst thing I see is they let people drive 1-2 hrs to work, sign on, work about an hour....then have a meeting just to say "YOU'RE FIRED!"

Send me an e-mail so I can sleep in, save my gas, and not have to try and stay saved cuz you done fired me knowing I was just 'bout to buy that new Fantasia CD.

i am sure it was a shock because he was sick and maybe the replacement was so good that they went that way instead.  in any event it was tough to see the email

sounds like there were some personal issues going on.  because they should have at least said that if you cant make it in we will have to find a replacement

that is what should have happened.  a phone call should have been made
the reason why they didnt is because they know they were wrong.

I agree dont dwell on it but i am the type that will process it first before leting go because i want tio know the dynamics they may help me do better next time around

honestly a great attitude and working repoire with people
listening to what they like and dont like

like if you are told you play too loud and you still hear that after a year that means you are not listening its not just the people being too crotcety
so what happens when someone else comes who has greater dynamic control  people will start saying why dont we use this guy instead  it may be the congregation that put the pressure on the leadership.

this has happened to me in my current church the other musician had 40 years of experiecne but played too jazzy people complained but there was no one else when i was hired as his assistant they got rid of him not in the best way but it happened why?

because he alienated folks he didnt heed he forgot that part of his job is to edify the people whith his music

I am not saying this is the case with your friend
I was just lead to say this  for anyone else who may read this be aware
that when people compain do not always be so quick to write it off '
especially if you hear the same thing three times from three different people it is time to look in the mirror.

as ministers of music and minstrels we are leaders and we should do our best to reach as many congregants as possible old and young

you should know how to mix up your music to reach different age groups
everyone deserves to get their praise on
do not just play for your own glory

I pray your friend finds a better well suited position.

I was fired at the end of a sunday from one church and in four weeks i was in my current church with more money and more opportunites to expand my ministry .

stay encouraged to all who go through adversities

To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

First off... that's TACKY TACKY TACKY!

Second off... I think there has to be more to this story than this...  I'm sure him missing services because he was sick had NOTHING to do with it. It might have been the straw that broke the camel's back but something's missing.

Third off... if one door closes, another one must be open somewhere.

Was the drummer a member of the church or a hired hand?

I've actually had a Pastor terminate me and ask me to still pay my tithes and offerings... I told him whatever church I end up playing at is where I'll join and tithe.

The pastor still didn't do things the right way but I was in a better place not even 7 days later...

AINT' GOD AWESOME!
