Performance in church.....
« on: August 26, 2006, 01:37:33 PM »
I heard church people say that moving or dancing or performing with your instrument in church is pure show. They said that musicians that do this aren't annointed. Everyone in church seems to agree. I don't. Do they want us to look like statues while playing latin or dance type music? I don't think it's wrong to perform in church while playing a tight groove or doing a solo. We are just expressing ourselves.

I know stuff that people say shouldn't bug me. But they do this and talk about how some type of music is bad, and that performing is just pure show. When they said that musicians who perform aren't annointed really got to me because I am annointed by God. I have felt Him when I play and the people have felt his presence also. How do I know this? they tell me.

If you notice I have been having problems lately with people giving their opinions in the altar. Look at my post here in the same room called "Is it wrong to take the Lord's Supper in another church?"

What do you think about musicians who dance or perform in church? Are there any musicians in your church who do this?

Our musicians get crunk for Christ, if you will. They are jammin' and having a great time! And, DON'T let the Holy Spirit hit one of 'em. Man, they'll play like David!!
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

Derik one thing about the 'ANOINTING' is that it is so powerful that it will make you move when you are Ministring from your instrument and this is the way it supposed to be. I am one of many that are lead by the Holy Spirit and as SJ stated  "JAM FOR JESUS".  Bishop Cole

yea jus like Bishop Cole stated...If the spirit is high during church service and a musician is playing an instrument...what so the churxh ppl want them to do...stop and do thier lil' two step...i mean come on...if a musician is feelin tha spirit and all they can do is beat tha drum louder or play the keybord or organ stronger than leave them alone. That is theor form of worship not yours.Be blessed.

That's false!     Musicians are not exempt from the power of the Holy Spirit.  I dance on my instrument!

HELLO..

EVERYONE SEEM TO AGREE WITH IT IS OK TO DANCE BEFORE THE LORD.. WHICH I FIRMLY AGREE....

I MUST ADMIT THAT THERE IS A LINE BETWEEN DANCING BEFORE THE LORD--AND SHOWING OFF....THE BIBLE TEACHES US THAT EVERYTHING MUST BE DONE DECENT AND IN ORDER...THAT INCLUDE DANCING BEFORE THE LORD WHILE IN FRONT OF THE PEOPLE... IF YOU ARE TRULY DANCING BEFORE THE LORD---MOST PEOPLE WILL KNOW IT.. B/C IT OUT OF THE HEART AND NOT A SHOW..

IF U ARE DANCING AND SHOWING OFF--MOST PEOPLE SEE THAT ALSO.. SO IF U ARE TRUKLY DOING IT BEFORE THE LORD.. KEEP DOING IT.. AND IF NOT.. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO SHOW OFF AT HOME OR SOMEWHERE ELSE B/C THAT CAN EASILY QUENCH THE SPIRIT.. ME PERSONALLY.. i HATE WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO SHOW OFF AND THEY AHVE THE NERVE TO SAY THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING B-4 THE LORD.. i CALL THAT PURE IGNORANCE!!!

NOW YALL BE BLESSED!!!   (LOL)

Scripture says praise Him with the timbrel and dance, praise Him with sound of the harp, praise Him with string instruments, let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

As a MOM and praise dance leader, let me tell you if you are anointed by the God I serve, and His spirit fills you, YOU WILL MOVE.  It is not a performance, but a manifestation of his presence.

Dance for all your worth brother!

I must say when i'm on the keys, and the spirit hits me, i'm often jumping.. dancing.. waving one hand or another in the air.. any number of things.  I could care less who is watching or what they think of me. Because in the end, worshipping the Lord comes first.  Even if I have to leave the keyboard to take a lap around the church....   Don't let anyone tell you that you're 'showing off' as long as you feel the Spirit leading you.. do what you feel..

God bless!

The bible teaches us that David danced before the Lord with all his might. IF people got to watch what you are doing then it is a show because they aren't doing what they should be doing which is praising God!! The flip side of that is when we are at home will we praise God the same. Our praise in the temple before God in the mist of our peers should be the same. True worshippers as Jesus told us are the ones God knows and has spotted. Anybody can worship but is your worship true? God looks at our motives and judges every secret thing. So if your praise is pure then your service before him is legit.
