« on: August 31, 2006, 12:39:00 PM »
Wuz up LGM Fam, I noticed this the other day .....the trick is simple....If u r in the key of EbMAJ...the major scale is Eb,F,G,Ab,Bb,C,D,Eb....if u go down 3 step u will b in C and if u play the Cminor scale its is the Ebmaj scale...or if u In EbMinor...and u go 3 steps up u will b in Gb..if u play the Gb maj scale it is the same as the Ebmin..........

So in other words........Ur in the Key of Eb.....3steps down ur in Minor but playin Major for Eb and 3steps up ur in Maj but Playin Minor for Eb

T-block me hit me up a let me kno where im wrong at so I can correct it.....iight ppl..holla at me.....

if u start a major scale on the sixth position you are playing the relative minor

Actually it is the relative minor. It's also called the Aeolian. Playing the major scale, but starting and ending on the sixth note of that major scale. There are others like this: Dorian (starting on the 2nd note of the major scale), Phrygian (starting on the 3rd note), Lydian (4th note), Mixolydian (5th), and Locrian (7th). For example the second note of the Eb Major scale is F. But if you play the Eb Major scale starting on F, and ending on F, it sounds like you are now in F minor. Try it, it'll open your mind to some new things.

Yeah CJ, we call those modes.

Every major key has a relative minor that starts on the 6th degree of the major scale.
Real musicians play in every key!!!
