Have a serious question....

Okay for those of us who consider ourselves good and talented vocalists....how do we maximize on what GOD has established in us from our birth? I mean how do we call on our voices and give outstanding performances like those of Yolanda Adams, Deitrick Haddon and Tonex? How can we and by we I mean I become the great gospel singer I feel God is trying to call me to be?

I believe it comes through when you commit yourself to being a
seeker of God. When you desire to know the heart of God. While
you seek, He is changing you and then when you stand to minister
the heart of the people are changed. And I believe the more passionate
you are for him, the greater the anointing.....so when the people leave
the service they have been changed not for the moment but for times
to come. It is this kind of life that brings the max.

This is an interesting question and the answer, I believe, is multi-factorial.  For example:  I come from a family of singers.  Most of my 10 uncles and aunts can sing.  It just comes naturally.  My aunt (my mom's sister) in particular is a dynamic vocalist.  She has two daughters.  Singing has always been a way of life in their house and in their church, so from the beginning they've been leading songs, listening to artists and they're mom, learning to imitate runs and such, and now that they are older (one 17 one 20), they are even better than she is, I mean awesome.  My mom can't sing (I guess she didn't get the gene).  Music, especially gospel music wasn't a big thing in our household.  The only time I really heard good singing was when I went to church.  I guess I inherited the gift to sing, but I believe that because mine wasn't cultivated the way my cousins' were, my voice is good, but not nearly as great as theirs.  My point is this:  I think that the talent has to be there, the will and the means to cultivate that gift, even at an early age has to take place, and then an anointing has to come.  The anointing comes later, when you develop a relationship with God, you can ask Him to strengthen your voice, strengthen your desire and will to learn how to become an even better vocalist, and lastly but certainly not least, let your gift move somebody.  Because Lord knows a great singer with no anointing is one of the hardest things to sit through.

Hey,first,if you feel called by God,your half way there.
Second,practice,practice,practice,and be honest with your self.If someone helping you on your vocals says your flat,or sharp,or need a vocal coach,dont get mad,just listen,follow the right steps,and then once again,practice,practice,practice.I mean if you really love to sing,you put your all into in,from the heart all the time.There's people out there in local chiors,that sing just as well as the stars,but do you want to be a star??or sing for the glory of God??? .

And yes,the same goes for musicians.Also remember music is a ministrey too,so always try to start in prayer..
