Help NEw B# out of control
« on: March 13, 2006, 02:57:36 PM »
I have been playing on the New B3 for almost two years now and everything was cool except it sounded a little tame on the percussion and there was no dirt sound that i like you that little crunch you get sometimes when you open a hammond up all the way

anyway somebody posted that oif i turned my over drive and bass and treble up I would get the dirt

they were right but then I lost control when I tried to play my ballads I tried turning down the overdrive but because my treble and bass were all the way up I could barely hear my pedals and the service was moving so fast i did not get the opportunity to adjust my bass and treble  knobs to bring the bass out in fact i did not even realize that is what it was until later

what a disaster

anyway Anyone who knows this organ have any good set ups between the leslies and the preamp box

and does anyone know how i can get my percussion louder it is almost invisble now
To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

Let me ask you this, what kind of leslie speaker do you have hooked to it, like:122,147,177 etc?  Bishop Cole

Two 122's

Try this pull off of one leslie and play out the other. The 122 series are , to me the best in the business. Now the thing that I don't know is the size of your church. Bishop cole

the other was unplugged for weeks and i plugged it up sunday and kicked the overdrive up  so you are probabl right but there is more to it then just speaker power

what about this control box that pulls out from under my console someone said i can raise the volume on my swell manual

Diverse, I have herd of this too, but have never had to use this particular application on any b3 or c3, or any organ in the hammond family as of this date in time!  Bishop Cole

The overdrive on the New B3 is incredible. I was the person that said you need to cut the overdrive all the way up. But you have to put the treble and bass only half way up. The volume shouldn't be all the way either. That would probaly damage the speakers. I just turn my vollume a little passed half way  The bass and Treble should not go passed half way. It is very important that the master volume doesn't go passed halfway too. That will make the Organ sound too muddy. I hope this helps.

There was a time When this New Hammond B3 really was getting on my nerves. I went through the same thing you went through. I cut the treble and the bass all the way up. BIG MISTAKE. My Father look at me and said" BOY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU >:(
You couldn't even hear the pedals. Even the drummer knew something was wrong. After Service my dad said " MAN IF YOU ARE GOING TO TINKER AROUND AT LEAST KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING >:(. Then we brought a Hammond Organ representative to our church. His name was Lenny. He told me that the Hammond Organ company knew that this organ sounded too clean and that's why they put an overdrive control on it. He told me to make sure I put the treble, bass and volume on the half way point so everything would be evened out.

LOL

HONESTLY I WAS BLESSING YOU OUT

 ;D ;D ;D ;D
BUT TO BE HONEST I DIDNT PLAN IT OUT I WAS IN CHURCH AND I REMEMBERED yout post . I couldnt remember what was said about the bass and voulume but Now that I think about you did say to put them about half way

so it was my fault

any way it was a disaster and ,my pastor who has become a good friend and would never say anything to hurt me

told me on the way back home listen you need to come iinto the churdh and practice on THIS organ to work out the nuances so I was truly embarrasesed  because that meant he heard something was wrong too.

So AT least I know now.

And I am glad you took the time to get back at me to let me know and that I was not alone with a disaster scene

I have an A100 at home and it is so mellow compared the New B3 so I will probably have to continue to try new things but yoour advice is right on

I may try to put my trble at 50 and my pedals at 70 so that I am sure to hear the bottom

(overcompensating)

thanks dont feel bad It was good for me I never practiced so much as I have yesterday and Monday (ANd I never practice on mondays)

Yeah man these New organs Are a trip. They tell you that they sound like the real thing.

THEY ACT LIKE IT WILL SOUND PERFECT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX

BUT THEY DON"T TELL YOU ALL THE MECHANICAL WORK YOU HAVE TO DO JUST TO GET IT TO SOUND RIGHT ;D
