help
« on: February 24, 2006, 11:14:03 AM »
Hi everyone, I need some help.  I am a leader in my church.  I have been at my church for 6 years.  I have been very committed and loyal, but I'm at a hard place.  I do believe God placed me in that ministry.  However, for the last year, maybe year and a half, spiritualy I haven't been fed by my Pastor.  The things he's teaching are wonderful, but they aren't ministering to me.  I find myself reading books, listening to music and watching TBN, to be minister to.  When I go to church I feel like I'm their to work and thats it.  I found myself contemplating steping down from positions.  When I go to church I'm not excited.  We have morning prayer every Sunday Morning, and I'm there trying to receive from God.  When the word comes forth, its good and I enjoy it, but it's not helping in my every day walk.  I have debated leaving, but I feel like God sent me to that ministry.  I don't know where God has me right now.  I am pressing but I just don't know what to do.  Anyone who could offer some advise and prayer would greatly be appreciated.

First and foremost, If God placed you in that ministry there was a reason for it. If you don't feel that you're being spiritually fed by your pastor, you need to talk to him/her in private and let them know this. Growing up I was taught to work out my own souls salvation. So, not only do I listen to the pastors sermons, I read several books and articles; I understand better that way. But if you're at the point of walking away from that ministry you need to talk with the pastor and God!
Praise Jesus!

I was in that same place about a year ago. I prayed and asked God if it was my time to leave, and He told me to it was. Believe me when I tell you, prayer is the key. I find that when a person isn't being spiritually fed, it's usually an indication that God wants you to move on to the next level.

I thinks God want us to SEEK him.

That means we have to develop a personal relationship with the Lord.  Some people need to be spoon fed everything  from the Pastor, but as you grow in Christ, there will be things you will need to feed yourself.  An active prayer life and active  reading of the Bible are good starting points.  remember with any relationship, quality time is an issue.   And if  God is requiring more of your time than what given in a Sunday service or a wednesday prayer meeting then consider it a blessing.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't leave your church (only you and God can work that out), but I am saying that you shouldn't expect your pastor to spoon feed you all of your spiritual nourishment. Some you will have to get on your own.

It's really good that you have only a good report about your assembly.  :) This shows that you are not wrapped up in yourself, you just want to grow in God!  I don't have a concrete answer for you, but I have connections to the ONE who does! ;)  I'll definitely be praying for you!  ;D

Praise the Lord Chosen:

You're going to have to pray and seek God for an answer.  I have been there before.  I prayed like never before.  I eventually left that congregation and went elsewhere for about 2 years.  Believe it or not but I believe God brought me back.  I also believe that God was ready for me to move to another level  (long story)   :)  I was just going through some trials and tribulations.  It was a 2 year test but thank God I passed.  However, I got the victory in Christ Jesus.  Seek God and he will give you the answer.  I have been fed spiritually so much until I have gained much weight ;D ;D ;D.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. ;)  Proverbs 3:5
