p.s. I'm not offended at all. If disagreements establish a greater good then Glory to God. I won't quarrel and become bitter with anyone on the site and I try not to do it at all. It's just not in the spirt of Christ. I even wish that we all could agree on everything but ok I guess that's asking a bit too much but for someone to express an opinion and someone else express another in peace is healthy and even therepeutic. Honestly, I think we're making the same point. We're just expressing it differently but I think I know where you're coming from. I honor you and the fellowship.

 God bless you all,

I'm the same way!  I don't like anything that causes strife!

I agree that it is good to discuss our point of views in a healthy wholesome manner, even if someone is in disagreement.  And I do think that in a sense we were saying the same thing.  I would be lying to you if I said I have never used what might be classified as an "rnb" chord, but I can honestly say that was to glorify the God of my Salvation and to usher in His presence.

I can tell that you have a sincere heart towards Christ and He will honor you for your humbleness and desire to please Him :D

I appreciate you timroy ;)

Be Blessed  ;D

thanks for responses everyone. this is a sticky subject and i been very heavily criticized about allot of things i have now believed in. I just respect the folks thats on this site so much and i have been helped by so many of u that i don't want the music i play to b in vain.

some have stated that if u take whats good out of music and leave the bad stuff alone then you all good.  how many of u know that the Devil has one power. Does ne 1 know what that iz? If you guessed music then u r correct. Satan has and only needs that one power to get to the most influential people out there. Young adults. Remember my brothas and sistas this war is spiritual war not a physical flesh and blood war.  With that said u think that music not of God (that means its of Satan) would be worthy of giving to the Lord our God. I dont care if its rap, jazz, rnb, rock or whateva. If its not of God then its not for God. There are musicians very talented that can praise God musically without hittin or takin chords from worldly music. HOllA at me with ur comments!

I disagree with this.  The Devil only has the power that God and we give him.

I kinda disagree with this also.  All music is of God, it is us humans who make it what we want.  It's not the music that is bad, it's the words and/or spirits that occampanies the music.  A C major 7th chord sounds the same whether you playing it in jazz, gospel, R&B, rock, etc.

So, if I hear some music or a beat I like, I'm gonna use it regardless of where it comes from cuz my mindset on how I am using that music is to glorify God and have fun while I'm doing it.  Anyone who doesn't like it can take it up with God.

i agree with t-block! certain types of music are used in certain genres but what makes a song are the lyrics. i read something interesting that i will try to find that is backed up by scripture about they way music is mentioned in the bible and the content is what matters (uplifting God). also the devil has perpetuated the lie that he is the "opposite" of God, that implies that he is His equal  :o, not so! God created the devil therefore He has all power over Him. the devil uses our weaknesses and lack of knowledge...

music was only created for worship!
if you listenin to music that dont worship God  then u shudnt be listenin to it
u think u can get the holy spirit and speak in tongues thru 'christian' rap and rock?
nah man. When God cast Lucifer to Hell for eternity, He never took away his gift in music, cuz its Gods promise, when u have a gift , He will never take it away. That being said,  Satan is gunna try n use talent he has in music to bring us strong soldiers in the Lord, downnn! Listen, brothers n sisters, you just pray on it, and listen to God's response to this heavy subject, pray for the wisdom and knowledge u need to face this subject.
But im certain that secular music-gone-christian (such as hiphop/rock) should not be used for worship. and if it aint worship music, then we shudn't be listenin to it..

Good topic.  How many of you know that Hip-Hop is a religion?  And KRS-1 is like their head minister.  Not lying or joking either.  Read about it.  Its pretty deep.

there is a ton of awesome worship music that is "rock". it's not about the style of music, it's about the message and the lifestyle. if the LYRICS glorify God, that's all that matters.

So, you tryin to tell me that you only need to listen to a certain type of music to get the holy spirit?  That's ludicrous!!!  You don't get the holy spirit through music, you get it by asking Him to come into your heart and live inside you.  You can feel the spirit through music, but you can't get it.  Anyways, who are you to judge that rap and rock can't be used as worship music?  You don't know how that music is touching somebody's heart and stirring up a change in them.  Just because it don't affect you, don't mean it can't affect others.

Let Everything that has breath praise the Lord!!!!   Music is music.  Its all in who you glorify in your music.  Rap and Rock are just styles of music.  What's wrong with Christian rock and rap?  If you say that you can't get the spirit with those styles, then you are saying that you can't catch the spirit with country, bluegrass, and any other styles.  Take head to your own words and pray for wisdom and knowledge.

it aint ludacrous - daz jus wat i been taught, T.
but i understand why u may think it is ludacrous, i come from a church which has a very straight up doctrine ...old school u noe.
This and the fact that i recently watched a video on this topic.
but s'like this .. some christian hiphop artists forget wat theyre rappin about ..! sometimes they jus go off and rap bout how it was produced and how they made the track.
i havent heard it ALL .. ofcourse not, but i still do think that there is alot of hiphop/rock - socalled christian music out there that takes the glory and the focus off of God!

Hip Hop, a young persons expression on their lifestyle much like the "love in" in the late 60's and early 70's.  Only problem is Hip hop has "designed" a bad conitation (rep) about the street style of the youth culture. I say this by stating they have CHOSEN to demean women by calling them female dogs, talk about how they want to demean the women's "virtue" with sexual explicit fantasies. and or put up a large exterior (frontin) about not being "punk" and wanting to kill their fellow persons (peeps).

Now its a sad state of affairs when the young people want to tear down and wipe out one another rather than try to not maintain but raise up each other.  This is mainly the reason why people turn a "deaf ear" when you try to mix the words "hip hop/rap" and "christain/gospel" together.  It CAN go together, I have heard some music with some pretty strong "witnessing for Christ" in them all we have to do is get over the bad reputation that the young community has "paved" for themselves.

I am a musician, music teacher, church organist and a radio programmer and find myself often times  listening or playing many genres of music I say this qualification to state that we need to be more tolerant of each other  in song message and everyday life. it is what God mandated (put) as part of the equasion of LOVE.

Historically, the "radical" has always been rejected right? But never lost his power. Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joseph, blazzay blazzay all the way to Jesus, all the way to YOU.
Yet they never lost their power. If you are checkin out this post, I see "YOU" are still overcoming. All by the Grace of the G.O.D. He created everything "And it was good".
So you can't judge the man or his music, only its use. So as long as God is magnified, "and He is" keep on blessin Him up Hip Hop Style. I don't know how many brothers and sisters and young folks I know that would have never thought about Jesus If it hadn't been for some Kirk Franklin Stompin all over the place. Lets remember my precious Saints its all about God and souls. We are in the last days so lets not hate, lets appreciate a form of music God is using to reach the lost.R.a.p. Radical.....And......Powerful.....Ya Heard Me??????

Kirk Franklin's CD Combined Old School and New age successfully. It's really the only CD I've heard to date that does it just right. It's outrageuous but not so crazy till you forget about the message behind the music. DID you know that the GOD's Property CD was the #2 or #1 Gospel Selling CD of ALL TIME. I know I'm Off topic but I had to give Kirk his credit for that one.

That's my problem with him.  He is bashing preachers, when he is not suppose to be judging anyway.

That's True. If you have a problem tell a person privately. And know what's funny. T.D Jakes or Eddie Long could care less. :D :D

You don't slander a person's name publicly.
