Yo Sabe, that does help A LOT. It basically boils down to me learning more about notation.  On any metronome, the beats start 1-7, then goes into the notes (quarters, eighths, etc).  Hey Cherri, I found a site that may help....I don't know, but check it out anyway:

http://www.drums-and-drum-sets.com/metronome-practice.php

Sabe, I also need to sit down with someone that can show me what you're talking about.  When we discussed it on the phone I did understand a little, but I'm sure I'll understand it more with someone showing me.  I'm gonna call my old classmate and see if he will have time to meet with me again.  Thanks y'all.

I am sorry I totally missed the 1-7 thing... I was having a brain fart or something...

That is the number of beats (quarter notes) per bar/measure. So  2 =2/4, 3=3/4, 4=4/4, 5=5/4, 6=6/4, 7=7/4...

Everything on the metronome is a quarter or sub-division of one.... Everything is based on quarter note time=x/4 where 4 represents quarter note value being 1 beat. Quarter note is a beat and everything else is a sub-division of that quarter note.

So:

1=1 quarter note

also 1&[b/]

also 1&a

also 1e&a

Yo Sabe, did you ever get those videos I told you about?  Man, I've been practicing like everyday on my pad watching that dude!!  I feel I'm getting better already  :D .  But I also figured out more with using my metronome.  I was doing six stroke rolls, or triplets and set the metronome to the right notes.  It's starting to make more and more sense, but I still have a ways to go.....thanks for all the help y'all!!
