**POLYRHYTHMS** i need help on dis ppl

Hi all wats gd? I really need some help on polyrhythms. what are they and how do you apply them to the kit?

The use or an instance of simultaneous contrasting rhythms.
poly·rhythmic adj.


In other words multi-limb independence. Multiple limbs are each playing seperate rhythms which overlap one another pushing and pulling at the time signature while working together.

Started in Africa. Multiple people performing various parts overlapping yet together to make ONE rhythm.

the prefix poly- means more than one and applied to the situation you are playing multiple rhythms on the drumset for instance. lets say you take a samba bass drum figure in 4/4(for those who can read:1 a2 a3 a4) and crosstick on your snare a basic clave figure in 4/4(1a an an 4) and a straight eighth note hi hat pattern in 6/8 over top of the four thats multimeter and polyrythmic if that amde any sense whatsoever lol hope that helped some!
