Man hendoo you're doing it big pulling out these clips. I was trying to figure out why we're interested in the same drummers, then I saw that you were from my hometown "Chocolate City baby!" Anyway, Jeff is slept on in this forum, but he's a beast, and he set it off for a lot of them New York cats. Like I said before, any drummer that can hold it down with James Hall's crazy musicians gets much respect from me. Feel me?
My goal as a musician is to be better than myself.

I really don't know why he's so easily forgotten. He is one of gospel's most recorded drummer. His resume is crazy!!! He's a mentor to alot of cats in the Tri-state area, he's my mentor. Growing up i use to say Gerald....... Gerald was saying NO Jeff, Jeff, Jeff!!! I use to watch him practice and that man is amazing. When you say the names like Dennis, Vinnie, Dave, Steve you need to add Jeff. Because he's is just as important to our music as any of those guys are to their's. Anytime you read a modern drummer article, featuring a drummer who made their start in the church, Jeff is one of the 1st name mentioned as a influence. And stop calling him old school cause he'll put it on you right now!!! TRUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO disrepect, the reason for that is younger cats need to know what a SEASONED DRUMMER SOUNDS LIKE, & NOTICE HE ALWAYS HOLDS BACK, & KNOWS WHEN & WHERE TO JUST GO CRAZY ON THE SET!!!!!!!

No doubt Jeff is the man.  If you listen to some of Richard Smallwood albums too you can hear how Jeff can put it down.  As a matter of fact there is a DVD from the Richard Smallwood with Jeff playing on there called Persuaded-live.  If you have not seen it you better check it out.  Some of the band members include Mark Walker on Bass, Jonathan Dubois on Guitar, Jeff Davis on the drums, and Steven Ford on organ.  The band is sick. This is what I'm talkin' about. I see we're givin' the man props up in here. Yo hendoo, I'm seriously thinking about moving back home after I graduate because things ain't poppin' down here. But, then again, I may give this area a chance (shout out to the Florida brotherhood: Sabe, J_Kay, JFunky, Lil Duval, and Da Drumma). Anyway, Jeff does it big man. I really like the track he did on Hez's live in London album. I think the name of the tune was "To Be Like Jesus." Jeff laid it down on that track as far as creativity goes.
My goal as a musician is to be better than myself.
