I'm between an alto and a soprano 2.  When I sang in chorus and in my gospel choir, I sang soprano.  When I sing in the church choir, or praise team, I sing alto.  I like alto better, because when I sing soprano, it comes out all airy, I gotta learn how to NOT sing from my throat, but from my diaphram.  \

Be blessed

Marcus T. Kemp here from Houston and I sing...wait I holla' on Key pretty good...I am a trained second tenor turned lead vocalist that loves good singin'. I've been told that my vocals skills are a combination of Marvin Winans, john P. Kee, wih a touch of Fred's falsetto. I also have that special thing in my voice that most preachers have, "the Squall", and the fat man's growl ;) so i'm reppin all the mid-range brothers that have style...no disrespect to those of you high singin cats with that great tone like smokie, tonex, and deitrick haddon...there is room for all of us, baby... ;D

Male Soprano until I was about 17 (puberty) & am currently an AltOr (tenor/alto) .  Trying to find some formal training to see what I can really do.  Been singin' since I could talk.  Haven't sang lead in years but will Solo on my original work.  I guess, that's about it.  Thanks for starting this room.   ;D

For most songs I can do any part. In every choir that I've been in, they constantly switched what part I sang depending on the song. When it comes to harmonizing with only a few people, I take either the note that no one else can or will take, or the tenor note. (when harmonizing, you can do some pretty stuff singing tenor!)

Scales:

I feel you. I have a good range but my comfort zone is btw. a soprano and alto. I like to cheat now and then.

Singing tenor, but can teach all notes.  I'm a choir director and full-time teacher for our college gospel choir.  When it comes to actually singing on stage, I can do tenor to alto.

I'm an alto too and I sing very well.  I'm a Kimberly Mc Farland, Lecresia Campbell type of alto(yes they are both alto's).  People hear me and they can't figure out if I'm a soprano, alto, or something in between.

You sound like me 2 years ago....I just started getting comfortable leading praise and worship.....when you can master the tenor section, then you will become more comfortable....start listening to CDs and just singing the tenor note on it.  Also like I said earlier to someone, when it comes to leading, find out what key the song is in and find what notes go in that key. and then play around in it to find what runs sound good and whatsoever....

I am praying for God to anoint this alto so that I may sing gloriously. Right now I can make a joyful noise! ::)
