Learning songs from the internet
« on: October 08, 2005, 01:39:23 PM »
How does everyone feel about learning songs form the internet.  For example getting the chords to a song.  I feel that it works but you are limited to one key unless you take the time out to learn it in all keys.  Also you never really own the song you own someone elses version of it.  When I was learning all I had was church and cd's I would pratice everyday until I learned the song.  I feel that sometimes people use the internet as a crutch but thats my opinion.

How can I say this without being offense  :?  let me think...hmmmm, ok.

LGM is not a crutch its an opportunity for those who want to share their gifts as well as an aid to those who want to learn and for those who want their gifts to grow.

In addition to chords (that someone took the time to post) there are midi's, mp3's, open chat, lesson forum, lesson archive, E books, videos, instructors, etc., etc., etc. If someone takes posted chords and re-arranges them that's wonderful. And if a person just want the chords just to learn the song what's the harm. You have to start someplace.

I don't believe this would be a crutch seeing that you get most of you high/lows actually playing in the thick of it. I'm a newbie(3 months counting) and has been BLESSED from the musicians here who actually take time out to post and help.(advice)  I'm on 10 other sites and they don't compare to this one. Yes they may have more visuals, but this site starts with what counts the most, theory(gotta learn those keys) and the rest is up to the individuals. I pray that God continously increases their gifts and allow them to be willing vessels.

Yes, the visuals help newbies like myself, but I still have to pray, practice, and practice. I take what I learn here and go for what I know. It has enhanced my skills and given me confidence. So, I thank you ALL.
We all sin, we falter, but God forgives.
