Try this modulation from C to Db:
C G Bb / B C E G
D A C / B C Eb G
Db Ab B / C Db F Ab
In other words, the progression is:
Cmaj7 (with Bb in the bass for spice)
D13
Dbmaj7 (with B in the bass for spice)
The trick is getting to the fifth of the key to which you’re modulating. Here Ab7 is the fifth of Dbmaj7. I’m using D13 as a tritone substitute for Ab7.
If you place your fingers as I wrote at the top, your fingers won’t move around too much. Try it out and let me know what you think! I’m experimenting.
