Need Help!
« on: September 06, 2005, 01:25:25 AM »
Praise the Lord,

I am in need of some basic chords to the Sheperd Song by the Mississippi Mass Children's Choir. I need it for the youth choir at my church and it would be a blessing if someone could help me out! and also, can someone explain to me the simplest way possible as to how in the world i can use multifingered bass chords instead of the rolling bass chords (e.g.-Ab, Eb, Ab).. I've been playing for a year and cannot figure it out! Everything i've learned i've taught myself. yes i play by ear.

Thank you so much in advance and God Bless

P.S. any more advice that you may have, please feel free to share because i'm open to any and all suggestions! (i need all the help i can get!)

I just want to make a comment about teaching yourself to play by ear - which I did also but I also had private lessons and took courses in college which was more reading music than actual piano classes.

Take my advice and learn theory.  You will be surprised at how much more your playing style will develope and how crisp your sound will have. And you can start by learning all your scales and chords in every key.  :D

thanks for the advice and i just had a couple other questions! So basically i can teach my self theory? or would it be better to learn from a teacher? Is there a simple way for me to learn all my chords in every key? I'm trying not to get attached to the transpose key but it is so hard!

This site has some wonderful teachers on here who teaches theory.  I know Al, (algieres) teaches theory.  And nobody says it like algieres.  A number of other people, so if you want to learn browse through this site and its topic.  Also check out Sister T's site(Madea T)  at www.earnestandroline.com.  She has a wonderful site with an enormous amount of information to can be very helpful to your learning.  But anything you need help with just post and I'm sure anybody would be more than happy to answer you question.  Be Bless
