At my church we have two leslie speakers mounted up close to the ceiling at the front of the sanctuary. The sound from the leslies doesn't project to where the other musicians sit very well. To compensate for this, the organist usually has to play very loud for the other musicians to hear but at the same time the music is to loud for the congregation.
The sanctuary is relatively small but we have a total of 3 leslies. I think this is too many for a room that size and that they should turn two of them off. I think they should put the other one close to the organ at a lower volume setting and mic it to the house speakers where the soundman can control it. I would like to know if you guys think this would work or if there is something else we should do to solve the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
